Aside from the inital Ek! factor bugs and insects can give they carry diseases and some can be poisonous. So, if your like me your first instinct is to squish, spray, and bomb the little pests back outside. But do not reach for your favorite pesticide and start spraying just yet.
Remember prevention is the best insurance policy against unwanted visitors so keep a clean home, maintain doors and windows, and be sure everything is properly caulked.
If you have to use pesticides be sure to always read the warning labels. Many pesticides can cause illness if inhaled and irritation of the skin, eyes, and respiratory system. Secure pets, children, and adults away from the poison. Be sure to wear protective clothing and a respirator if it is called for.
Do not use more pesticide than recommended. This is very important when using "bug bombs" or foggers as they can cause fires. To reduce the risk of fire be sure to turn off ignition sources even air conditioners and refrigerators because can produce sparks when they cycle on and off.
