On The Third Day of Christmas...

Santa has a lot of last minute preparations to take care of.  Today when he called his insurance company it was to see what he needed to do to be sure his sleigh would be covered while he was picking up the groceries and dropping off Christmas toys.

According to NORAD, Santa’s sleigh is a versatile, all weather, multi-purpose, vertical short-take-off and landing vehicle.

If he’s just using it to deliver toys, then business. If he uses it for personal use, too, then it would be a personal auto with business use added to the policy.

You probably do not deliver toys to every child around the world in your car, but are you certain that you have enough insurance on your vehicle? Are you trying to earn money on the weekends by delivering pizzas? Does the pizza company have auto insurance to cover the damage that might happen if you get in an accident? Or do you ask your employees to run business errands in their personal vehicle? What would happen if they accidentally hit a pedestrian on the way? Did you know that you can be held personally liable?

Call Allison Insurance at 731.668.8444 to find out if you have any holes in your auto insurance.

You better watch out
There’s been butter in
All the cookies
He’s eaten my friend

Santa’s foot smashed right through your roof

He’s snacking on them
And drinking the milk
Left under the tree by good boys and girls

Santa’s foot smashed right through your roof!

He tossed his sack on his back
And hopped out of the sleigh
One cookie plate too many
Caused the shingles to give way!

Oh! You better watch out
There’s been butter in
All the cookies
He’s eaten my friend

Santa’s foot smashed right through your roof
Since Santa was working when he damaged your shingles, his business owner's policy would cover the damage. Do you own your own business? Do you know with confidence that if you damaged someone else's property when on a job that your insurance will sufficiently cover the damage? Call our commercial lines agents at Allison Insurance today to review your exposures checklist! 731.668.8844

On The First Day of Christmas Santa's Insurance Company: Helped an Elf Get Back on His Feet

Santa has been very busy this year!

With only two weeks until Christmas, Santa has been pulling a lot of late nights in the Toy Factory. In fact, he’s been so busy at work, that he hasn’t finished the to-do list that Mrs. Claus left him. Sure, he dropped off his good red suit from the cleaners, but he didn’t shovel the front porch like she asked.

On most days, that would be okay. Unfortunately, with the warm days and cold nights, the snow melted and refroze into a solid sheet of ice overnight. When Edgar the Elf came to visit him, he slipped and fell. Donner rushed him to the North Pole emergency room. The damage: a broken arm, a sprained knee, and a bruised Christmas spirit.

To pay for the medical expenses, Edgar filed a law suit against Santa. Fortunately, Santa raised his limits on his personal liability last year and his homeowner’s policy provided sufficient coverage – no extra expenses for Santa this month.

However, had Edgar broken his back, Sants’s homeowner policy would not have had enough coverage. He is going to call his agent and get a quote on a personal umbrella policy that would give him even more personal liability coverage.

Do you know how much coverage your homeowners policy is providing for you? Is it enough to cover medical expenses should someone be injured on your property? Do you have an umbrella providing extra coverage for both you and your family?

A Down Home Country Christmas

As I walked down Main Street, I couldn’t help but be glad to be a resident of the City of Jackson. Hundreds of people lined the parade route as the floats and bands proceeded around downtown. At 5:15, Mayor Jerry Gist and Santa Claus lit the city’s tree, located outside City Hall on Main Street. More than 75 carolers stood on the steps of First United Methodist Church to welcome the start of the parade coming from the Carl Perkins Civic Center. Members served hot chocolate, despite the unusually warm December night. However, caroling along with hot chocolate has been a tradition since 2005.

The parade began at 6:45, led by this year’s grand marshal, New Orleans Saint and South Side High School alum Jabari Greer.

Children squealed in delight as the flood of blue police lights initiated the parade. The parade included floats carrying groups varying from cub scouts to North Side High School’s ROTC to young  toddlers on tractors. Leaders from Jackson such as Mayor Jerry Gist and Senator Lowe Finney personally walked the parade route and handed candy to children along the way. Classic as well as new cars cruised the street, including a smart car with a wind up handle on the back. The children and leaders of Hands Up! as well as RIFA’s Club 412 inspired Christmas spirit as the children who participate in the programs waved to all the crowd.

As the parade reached its conclusion, you could hear children beginning to yell, “Santa’s coming! He’s really coming!” as the fire truck chauffeured Santa himself, giving the reindeer and sleigh another night to rest up before the 24th.

As members of the community, we at Allison Insurance are always proud to attend these spectacular community events. A special thank you to this year’s sponsors: the city of Jackson, Jackson Recreation and parks Department, EPlus 6 TV and First South Bank.
