Introducing Chris Allison

Chris Allison provides the leadership for Allison Insurance Group with his brother, Greg. He has worked at the Agency for over 20 years. When serving his customers, he strongly recommends insuring areas and items that are not easily absorbed with normal year to year revenues.

One time, a customer's home was totally destroyed by an F-5 tornado, and with the help of insurance, Chris was able to help the family rebuild their lives. Chris' all-time favorite aspects of his job are the people. He enjoys spending quality time with his customers as well as his employees inside and outside of the office building.

When Chris leaves the office, he spends most of his time with his wife and daughter and fly-fishing.

This year, Chris is most looking forward to Communion on Christmas Eve with his church family. He absolutely loves helping families in need and also gathering together with his own family and spending time together before the New Year.

Introducing Greg Allison

On January first, Greg will celebrate 24 years at the Allison Insurance Group. He began his work while his father first established the company and now serves as a Partner with his brother in leadership.

When not at the office, Greg enjoys carving artwork in wood, singing in harmony, and camping. In fact, one of his carvings is hanging on the wall at Allison Insurance.

Greg and his wife Lisa have two sons, Riley and Jace.

When working with Commercial Accounts, Greg strongly recommends Equipment Breakdown Coverage. This gives you protection against loss from disruption of boilers and machinery by an insured peril.

He has seen insurance help restore his customers to whole even when they have experienced a total loss. His favorite aspect of his job is getting to effectively analyze and solve a problem.

At Christmas time, he loves to sing in harmony. The best Christmas gift he ever received was an entire stocking full of red and green M&Ms. And for Christmas this year, he hopes to receive camping supplies and a mountain bike.

Stop by Allison Insurance on 30 Sandstone Circle this Holiday season to see Greg's carving and the discuss the importance of equipment breakdown in your business.

P.S. 35 Days Until Christmas!

Operation HOPE Luncheon

How can you give to someone who cannot give back? This question was posed to the attendees of the Operation HOPE luncheon.

Operation HOPE was began in 1995 as an after school program. Today, it boasts an average of 80 students every day who come through their doors looking for hope.

Bruce Hussey, founder, provided us with statistics from Madison County.

  • 30% of children in Madison County live in poverty.
  • There are 40 gangs and subsets of gangs in Madison County that recruit children as young as ten. Some families teach children as young as 5 how to act as look outs.
  • In 2012, 779 committed juvenile offenses.
  • 84% of Operation HOPE's children come from single-parent homes, many with two jobs who are forced to leave their children at home unsupervised.
  • High school drop outs are eight times more likely to go to jail.

"We're growing up a generation that's being influenced by the world." Bruce Hussey challenged everyone in attendance to find a way to connect with this generation and provide positive role models. He quoted a man who works in a similar situation in New York, "It's easier to build boys and girls than it is to fix men and women."

To learn more about Operation HOPE or to find out how you can volunteer to make a difference in our own town, visit their facebook page or call 731-664-4673.

Another New Bank Card?

Last week, I received a letter in the mail from my bank informing me that my account has been identified as one in a group of many that may have had its account breached. They provided a phone number to call in case I noticed fradulant charges on my account.

My first thought, “That’s unacceptable. I better make a priority of checking my statement.”

My second thought, “We just talked about this with a company representative at work!”

Did you know that the average cost per compromised customer record is more than $200? Cyber and privacy risks apply to almost every company, not just technology firms.

Here’s a few questions to ask yourself to see if you are at risk:

·         Do we take credit card numbers?
·         Do we take social security numbers?
·         Do we take bank account or routing numbers?
·         Full Name
·         Social Security Number
·         Date of Birth
·         Driver’s License Number
·         Bank Account Numbers
·         Credit/Debit Card Information
·         Patient History and Medications

According to the Verizon 2012 Data Breach Investigations Report:

·         71% of data breaches happen to small businesses.
·         Small businesses experience 95% of the credit card breaches reported.
·         52% of small business owners say they have no data security policy.
·         Reported data breaches were up 38% in 2011.

How does our technology hurt us? Our data can be breached if our smartphone, tablet, laptop, or flash drive is lost or stolen or if files are not shredded or disposed properly.

Do you think your business has a risk that’s not covered in the event of a data breach? Call our Commercial Account Managers today at 731-668-8444 for a data breach quote.
