Alzheimer's Awareness Month 11/25/2011
November is Alzheimer's awareness month. Alzheimer's is a fatal brain disease that causes a slow decline in memory, thinking and reasoning skills. There are 10 warning signs of Alzheimer's. Please remember every individual is different and some people may experience one or more of these signs in varying degrees. If you observe any of them or are concerned please see a doctor. Early detection of Alzheimer’s is the best way to slow the disease and maintain a high quality of life for your loved ones. 1. Memory changes that disrupt daily life. 2. Challenges in planning or solving problems. 3. Difficulty completing familiar tasks at home, at work or at leisure. 4. Confusion with time or place. 5. Trouble understanding visual images and spatial relationships. 6. New problems with words in speaking or writing. 7. Misplacing things and losing the ability to retrace steps. 8. Decreased or poor judgment. 9. Withdrawal from work or social activities. 10. Changes in mood and personality.
